Liz Lalor wrote her place in history as the most successful lady rider in the point-to-point sphere of all time, a career which saw her first get off the mark in points at Kinsale in 1999. In total, Lalor who was often seen carrying the distincitive blue and red silks of her father Richard, colours which are synonymous with the Carrigeen prefix, such as the two-time Champion Mare Carrigeen Acebo, has won the ladies title nine times, having first lifted the ladies title when sharing it with Jennifer Pugh in 2009. A 100th career winner came in the 2018/19 campaign following the birth of her first daughter Alex, whilst in her role as a trainer, Lalor saddled a first double on the track at Clonmel in 2007. The victory of Read To Return at Comea in February 2022 saw Liz surpass Helen Bryce-Smith's long-standing record with her own 110th victory in the sphere ahead of her retirement from the saddle at the end of that season.
