Lalor Equals Helen Bryce Smiths Record

It was a memorable weekend for Liz Lalor who equalled Helen Bryce-Smith’s record of 109 winners and now shares the title of the most winning lady point-to-point rider.

The 38-year-old reached this milestone when winning the ladies open aboard the David Christie trained On The Sod at Moig South.

The victory comes just over 22 years after her initial victory in the pointing sphere, which was recorded in 1999 aboard Guesswork at Kinsale.

The Tipperary native has been crowned lady champion point-to-point rider on seven occasions, having claimed her first title back in 2009 when sharing with now IHRB Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jennifer Pugh.

2019 is also another year that stands out for Lalor as she recorded her 100th winner between the flags aboard the Declan Queally-trained Cloudy Morning.  The was unbelievable feat as she only gave birth to her daughter Alex five weeks earlier.

Lalor also holds a trainers licence and had her first winner under rules in 2015 when De Name Escapes Me won a bumper at Clonmel.
