In a strongly run contest the first winner at the inaugural Ballinagore point to point is fittingly a Wexford trained horse as Too The Future arrived to challenge in the home straight, quickly overhauling the well-backed favourite and pace setter Feuille De Lune to win by two lengths for the Michael Murphy yard. A faller at Toomebridge on the opening day of the season, the Mahler mare then pulled up at Portrush and connections say they will enjoy the victory before forming a plan.

Tipperary owner Pat Coffey had his colours carried by two horses in the race and it was The Bees Knees, a final fence faller at Boulta in the race won by Sir Gerhard, to pick up smartly under Brian Lawless to win going away. Winning handler Colin Motherway had previously ridden winners for Coffey and this was the first horse that he has trained for him.

Derek O'Connor brought up a quick two-timer when his wife Carol O'Donnell's A Distant Place, trained by five-horse handler John Staunton, came from off the pace to lead before the last beating Mister Sweets by a widening six lengths. The Colin Bowe trained Mt Leinster Gold vindicated the promise of her Dawstown success last season by making a winning return under Barry O'Neill. Mt Leinster Gold, owned by acclaimed tenor Anthony Kearns who went to school with Bowe, led from five out to beat Dubai Daisy in convincing fashion. Mt Leinster Gold will continue pointing this season to secure more experience.

The Shark Hanlon trained Rewritetherules made a taking winning return to action by arriving from well off the pace with Tom Hamilton to lead before the last. The six year old Rewritetherules then powered clear to beat Wounded Warrior by three and a half lengths. The winner will now run in the farmers' race at next month's Punchestown point to point before contesting the Cheltenham Foxhunters.
