In a vintage renewal, Cloudy Morning and last season's champion mare Wilcosdiana took up the running from the first and they ensured few horses got into the contest. However, as the race developed they had nothing to offer the surge of the strong travelling Arctic Skipper who was produced to lead at the last by Johnny Barry. The former graded winner returned to winning ways by getting the better of the 2015 Irish National winner Thunder And Roses.
