Simon Cavanagh comes from a family well immersed within racing as his father Richard's maroon and blue silks will be familiar to many. Simon partnered his first winner aboard the Ciaran Murphy-trained Dickie's Choice at Horse & Jockey in March 2011. A native of Mullingar in Co. Westmeath, he had a particularly successful relationship with Jack Aboo, winning three races including a Clonmel Hunter Chase, before relocating to Wexford where he had an association with Denis Murphy and Cormac Farrell, winning for the latter aboard £410,000 seller Wide Receiver at Cragmore in 2019. He has also set up a pre-training and sales consigning business in Drumloose Stables.
