Johnny King was in the winner's enclosure within his first year of race riding between the flags, as he was off the mark by April 2002, with the success of Philip Walsh's Jack The Hough at Kilmallock. Fourteen winners during the 2007/8 campaign was his best single season total, whilst his winners included the likes of Pleasant Company, Champers On Ice and Doing Fine. A single winner during the 2017/18, continued his run of riding at least one winner for 14 consecutive pointing seasons, with a rare outing in the 19/20 season aboard Tom Shaw's Chapter Two, brought success at Dungarvan.
