Son of Group 1 and Ascot winning trainer Michael Halford, Josh partnered his first bumper winner for his father and Tracy Collins aboard Tarnova at Punchestown in October 2023. With a background in showjumping, where he has previously represented Ireland at under-age level. Josh got off the mark in point-to-points when scoring aboard the Enda Bolger-trained Honey Be Good at Tullaherin in April 2025, and later that summer he represented Ireland in the Gentlemen's League, winning the Swedish leg in Stromsholm. In July 2026, Josh joined the conditional jockey ranks.
