Henry de Bromhead’s Jasko Des Dames (Lot 30) looks one of the picks of the ThoroughBid October Sale catalogue.
The seven-year-old It’s Gino gelding has been a feature of recent Cheltenham Festivals, twice hitting the frame in the Grand Annual for the Co. Waterford team, followed this year by a fine fourth over the Grand National fences in the Red Rum.
He is joined by Mags Mullins’ promising Grade 3-winning mare A Snow White Park (Lot 12). Only a five-year-old, the daughter of Walk In The Park is another exciting consignment from Mullins, who sold Hillberry Hill for £70,000 in ThoroughBid’s January Sale.
Mags Mullins said: “A Snow White Park is a lovely black-type mare who's at a very promising stage of her career. It's never easy to let them go, but the way I run it, they're always for sale and if the money is there then somebody will be lucky enough to have her. I have to pay the bills and keep the business rolling!
"Her best days are ahead of her and she'll be a money-earner for whoever gets her, so it will need to be the right price. She's a Graded winner over fences, can go back over hurdles and is as tough as nails.
"It's great to be able to sell online with ThoroughBid as we don't have to move them. The cost of loading them up and going over to England for the sales doesn't add up sometimes and we've already had a couple of nice ones sell online, so we'll keep doing that. We can get them vetted here and have all the videos done easily, so it makes sense.”
The October Sale also sees the extension of ThoroughBid’s popular Point2Rules Bonus to £10,000 in total, with the pot split between consignors and buyers should the pointer win first time out Under Rules.
Salvadorhill (Lot 7), consigned by Wilson Dennison, looked a hot prospect when getting off the mark on his second start in an Irish Point earlier in October, while Colin Bowe enters an exciting Blue Bresil mare in Silverado Blue (Lot 19).
The talented five-year-old hails from a good family, being a daughter of the Grade 1 placed novice hurdler, Beluckyagain and showed a really likable attitude to win on her most recent start on October 10th.
Her new owners could enjoy a £5k bonus if she transfers her form from pointing to rules. Likewise, with Glenhead (Lot 22), who was second on his third start in Irish point-to-points on October 17th, achieving a rating of 87 .
Edward Power’s Juarileo (Lot 16) made his debut in a Juvenile Hurdle at Punchestown on October 14th, running with plenty of promise in second.
James Richardson, ThoroughBid CEO, looks forward to the sale: “We’re super excited about our October Sale with a strong-looking catalogue. Jasko Des Dames is a familiar name to racing fans having regularly competed at the Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown Festivals. We are very grateful for the continued support of Henry de Bromhead with another quality individual, and he should make a lovely Saturday horse for his new connections.
“We’re also thrilled to again have Mags Mullins consign a fine youngster with us. A Snow White Park is already a Grade 3 winner over fences and the sky’s the limit for this five-year-old Walk In The Park mare.
“Another very pleasing aspect of the catalogue is the number and quality of point-to-pointers from some of the leading handlers in Ireland. Ahead of the new season we took the decision to double the £5k Point2Rules bonus to reward vendors as well and it is great to see how well it has been received so far. I have no doubt we will be paying out some bonuses very soon going on the strength of this sale’s draft.
“Overall, with more than 40 lots for sale, we can’t wait to get bidding underway on Friday 30th October at 9am.”
The auction will go live from 9am on Friday 30th October, with lots finishing at two-minute intervals from 12pm.
