RIP | Michael Byrne

We were very sorry to learn of the sudden passing of Michael Byrne a former point-to-point rider who then enjoyed a successful career with Tim Vaughan in the UK before returning to Ireland.

Byrne started his career between the flags having partnered 12 winners before joining Peter Bowen.  He then joined the Tim Vaughan team, he had over 90 winners in the UK with 61 of those for Tim Vaughan.

Since returning to Ireland he has been working with his father Michael Snr who has breeze-up horses and consigns under Knockgraffon Stables, he was also riding out for his uncle Pat Doyle.

The Byrne family are known by many throughout the Irish racing industry with Dad Michael a former jockey, his mother Kitty a sister of Pat Doyles was also the clerk of the scales at the Horse and Jockey point-to-point for many years and both of his brothers David and Stephen also rode in point-to-points.

Michael was a familiar face on the point-to-point circuit and will be missed by all that knew him.

Our thoughts are with his parents, Michael and Kitty, sisters Amy and Katie and brothers David, Stephen and Eoin and all his extended family and friends.

Please see funeral arrangements below.

Deeply regretted by his loving parents Michael and Kitty, brothers David, Stephen and Eoin, sisters Amy and Katie, brother-in-law Johnny, sisters-in-law Michelle, Chloe and Rebecca, nephews Tadhg, Andy, M.J. and Harry, nieces Erin, Hannah and Mila, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

May He Rest In Peace.
