It was a memorable debut season for Cork native Shane Cotter who was crowned this years under 21 champion.

The 17-year-old only had his first winner earlier this season when winning aboard the Billy Codd trained Special Prep at Lingstown in December.

Cotters’ second career winner was also supplied by the Codd’s when winning aboard Bluey at Carrigarostig in January.

The young riders talents were picked by David Christie who supplied the young Ballynoe native with six winners including two on this years champion point-to-pointer Winged Leader.

Cotter was nip and tuck with last year’s winner Dara McGill in the race for this years under 21’s award with pair level on 13 winners a piece going into the final weekend.

It was Cotters’ boss Denis Murphy that supplied him with the all-important two winners on the final weekend of the season, with Roaring Conquest winning the five-year-old geldings maiden at Ballingarry on Saturday.

His second winner of the final weekend came aboard Berkenshtaaap at Inchydoney on Sunday.

Final Table
