Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase contenders

The Willie Mullins-trained Acapella Bourgeois heads the 18 runners for the Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase at Gowran Park on Thursday. 

The champion trainer has declared five runners one of which is the Syndicates Racing-owned Munster National and Kerry National winner Cabaret Queen (pictured above).  The nine-year-old daughter of King’s Theatre started her career between the flags when winning her maiden Dromahane for Antrim handler Warren Ewing. 

Gordon Elliott is also strongly represented in the Grade A event with five declared, three of which are Irish point-to-point graduates, Run Wild Fred one of the leading fancies won his maiden at Dawstown in 2018 for Wexford handler James Doyle. 

The 2019 Thyestes runner-up Alpha Des Obeaux is also among the declarations, he will be partnered by leading point-to-point rider Rob James. He won his maiden back in 2014 at Tinahely for his current connections.

Punchestown maiden point-to-point winner Dounikos will take his place in the race on Thursday, he will be partnered by former Novice Champion rider Sean O’Keeffe. 

Henry de Bromhead runs Spyglass Hill which is another notable entry, he started his career between the flags with Liz Doyle when finishing runner up in a competitive maiden at Dromahane.
