Lucky Ballingarry for Dungar Quality Oats NextGen cash prize winners

Scott Kenny is this years winner of Dungar Quality Oats NextGen cash prize being only the second jockey to win this after last years inaugural winner Dara O’Sullivan. 

This year  a whopping 29 young riders qualified for the prize draw after recording their first point-to-point win.  In an extraordinary coincidence, this is the second year of the prize and the second time that the prize winner qualified at the track in Ballingarry. 

Additionally this year, it was the jockey most local to the sponsor and the track who won the draw.  Tadhg O’Leary of Dungar Quality Oats was delighted to present the cash prize to Scott at his home in Ballingarry, Co. Tipperary.

The NextGen series of articles by p2p.ie are a way of recognising talented up and coming jockeys who have ridden their first point to point winner. 

As a bonus, all featured jockeys in this series are automatically entered into a special cash prize draw for €500 sponsored by Dungar Quality Oats.  The draw is conducted at the end of the point to point season whereby the winner is then announced.

Scott Kenny's memorable win aboard the Enda Bolger trained In Excelsis Deo, came at the last point-to-point fixture of the season in his local hunt the Ormond Foxhounds track in Ballingarry, just down the road from his home.

Speaking of the win, Scott said: "Our local hunt, the Ormonds run the point-to-point in Ballingarry so it was great to get off the mark there in front of loads of people I knew." 

Scott has always wanted to ride in point to points and has decided to follow a career in racing.  He now rides out full time in Enda Bolger's yard and is grateful to both Enda and his parents Sandy and Graham for their support.

Sponsors of the prize, Tadhg O’Leary of Dungar Quality Oats congratulated Scott on his success and wished him luck in his future career in racing. 

Tadhg also commended each of the young riders who qualified for the draw and said: "It was heartening for the sport to see the increase in numbers of young jockeys who qualified for this prize and particularly the increase in lady riders.
