The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr E.T. Mellerick, rider of Good Bye Sam (FR), placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the Open Lightweight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(g) in that he had used the whip with excessive frequency.
Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr E.T. Mellerick for one Point to Point raceday.
The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr L.J. Murphy, rider of Working Class Hero, placed third, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 4yo Geldings Maiden.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that he had used the whip without allowing his mount at least three strides to respond. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr L.J. Murphy for one Point to Point raceday.
