Monksgrange winner tops Goffs UK Autumn Sale

The one-day Goffs UK Autumn Sale was topped by the four-year-old Music Drive who was offered by Colin Bowe’s Milestone Stables after winning his point-to-point at Monksgrange.

The son of Muhtathir is a half-brother to the Grade 2 winning hurdler Street Name and was bought by Aidan O’Ryan and Gordon Elliott for £90,000.

The top prices all came from the point-to-point section of the sale and included Silver Flyer who was bought by Donald McCain and Derek O’Connor for £50,000. He was trained by Donnchadh Doyle and was consigned by his Monbeg Stables after winning at Umma House, with stablemate Frere d'Armes going to Ryan Mahon for £25,000 after finishing second at Oldcastle on the opening day of the new season.

Rob James, who rides so many of the Doyle runners, himself offered Big Jim Beam after he fell in front at Monksgrage last month and the son of Westerner was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock for £42,000.

Following the conclusion of the sales, Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

‘It is always difficult to make direct comparisons between Horses in Training Sales as any trade will be determined by the strength of the catalogue and the quality of the horses on offer.

“With that in mind, we were delighted with the strength of the sale and, as ever, we are indebted to all the vendors who put their trust in the Goffs UK team.

“We would obviously wish all buyers the best of luck with their new purchases, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Doncaster for the final time this year on Friday 3 December.”
