For Certified Hunters aged 7 years old and upwards only, maidens at starting, the property of subscribers to any Hunt in Ireland. Mares allowed 5lbs. For Novice Riders who, at the start of the day, have not ridden more than ten winners under any Rules of Racing or Steeplechasing, including Point to Point
Steeplechases.

This novice riders contest looks a fairly open event with the majority of the runners having been running under rules. NELLS APACHE looks the obvious choice on last seasons form having filled the runner up spot on three occasions. Dads Rose has not been seen competitively since 2011 when finishing 3rd on his only start, he is from the Ciaran Murphy stable where both fitness and jumping ability should not be a problem and could be the one to oppose the selection.
