One of six newcomers in the twelve-runner field, Captain Drake was given a patient ride and made steady progress on the final mile to move closer to the leaders before going into second at the final fence where he stayed on gamely in the closing stages to finish runner-up to a more experienced rival on the day. Out of Julika, a four-time winner in Germany who is a half-sister to the 14-time winner Junior, Captain Drake is also a half-brother to the prolific eight-time winner in Tornado In Milan. Captain Drake has shown himself to be a decent youngster that is bred to develop into a smart sort on the track and could have a lot to offer to new connections.
