The son of trainer Tim Doyle, David made his point-to-point debut at Borris House in March 2023 when partnering his father's Delias Pet, and just four months later he was among the winners with an initial success under rules coming at the age of 17 aboard Beauforts Storm in a Cork Bumper. It was fellow Tipperary handler Nicky Stokes that supplied him with his initial success in the pointing fields when Graigue Corner scored at Lisronagh in February 2024.That prceded a breakthrough campaign for Doyle as the support of Pat Doyle and Sam Curling saw him crowned champion under-21 rider in 2025 following 14 winners.
