Mallow native Alan O’Sullivan is a son of William O’Sullivan and brother to former champion U21 rider Michael O’Sullivan. Alan had his first ride in Irish Point-to-Points on the opening day of the 2020-21 season at Ballingarry aboard A Decent Excuse, trained by uncle Eugene O’Sullivan, and it was Eugene's It Came To Pass that supplied him with his opening success when taking an open at Dromahane in April 2022. Alan shared the 2024 western title with Derek O'Connor, whilst he has ridden winners on the track for the likes of Eugene O'Sullivan, Pat Foley, Eleanor Broderick, Terence O'Brien and John Queally.
