David Murphy was following in the footsteps of both his father Jeff and borther Brian's footsteps when he made his race-riding debut and got off the mark aboard TJ Goodtymes at Liscarroll in March 2017. His brother Brian is also a trainer in America, whilst David enjoyed success as a handler for the first time when Etoile Du Matin won at Ballyvodock in February 2020.
