Jamie Scallan reached a career milestone when registering his 100th winner between the flags aboard the Wordfromhome trained by Sean Doyle at Monksgrange on Sunday.
The son of Poet’s Word who was making his debut kept on strongly from the back the last to hold off the Road To Destiny by a length in the opening division of the four-year-old maiden.
Scallan started his career with the late Willie Codd who also supplied him with his first ride and winner, both of which came aboard a horse called Flabello. He had his first winner at Moira in 2016.
The Wexford native has a good relationship with many of the Wexford handlers seeking his services but he has struck up a particularly successful relationship with Sean Doyle, so it was very apt that he registered his 100th winner aboard a horse from the Sean Doyle yard.
Doyle has supplied Scallan with 66 winners to date. The handler also gave him his first winner under rules when the pair won the 2021 Tetretema Cup at Gowran Park with Solomn Grundy.
Last season was his most successful season having partnered 35 winners and he also shared this seasons southern title with Barry O’Neill with 14 winners a piece in the region.
