The countdown is on for the highly anticipated GAIN Mares Series Final, taking place on Sunday, 22nd March at 2pm at the renowned Ballynoe in Co. Cork.
This muchloved Series, supported by GAIN Equine Nutrition, continues to act as an important platform for developing quality mares within grassroots racing. Ballynoe has long been established as the traditional home of the series finale, drawing strong entries from across the country and remaining a central fixture in the point-to-point diary.
This year’s final once again offers a €3,000 bonus to the winning trainer, sponsored by GAIN Equine Nutrition.
Encouragement for Entries
GAIN Equine Nutrition Business Manager John Hore urged owners and trainers to seize the opportunity: “I would encourage anyone with a suitable mare to enter the final. The GAIN Mares Series is all about supporting and showcasing talented mares, and Ballynoe provides the perfect stage for them to shine.”
A Winner’s Perspective
Reflecting on his own success in the 2025 final with Carry On Heidi, 2025 winning trainer Jerry Baragry shared what the victory meant for him and his family: “Winning the final was a great boost and we’re still delighted. It’s a fantastic opportunity for any mare, and I’d strongly recommend anyone thinking about it to get involved.”
A Day of Top-Class Grassroots Racing
With strong bonuses across the card, a competitive entry expected, and the prestige of the GAIN Mares Final at stake, the Ballynoe meeting on Sunday 22nd March at 2pm promises to be a standout occasion for owners, trainers, jockeys, and racing fans alike.
To qualify for the GAIN Mares Series final, mares must be maiden mares at the start of the current point-to-point season and secure a top three finish (first, second or third) in any fixture throughout the season.
