Prize money to increase for new season

Owners and handlers have received a boost ahead of the new point-to-point season, which begins on October 4th, with the news that prize money levels are set to increase.


All races, except the commercially-focused four and five-year-old maiden races, will now be worth €2,000.

This marks an eight per cent increase from the spring 2025 prize money levels.

Victory in a maiden for horses aged six or older, winners or open’s will now earn connections a first prize of €1,400. The second will receive €400, with the third earning €200.

Horses are eligible to run in the autumn 2025 point-to-point season if it has not won a race under rules, with the exception of a Hunter Chase, on or after March 1st 2025, or run under rules on or after September 1st 2025.

In order to be eligible for the spring 2026 term, a horse cannot have run on the track, with the exception of Hunter Chases or Academy Hurdles, on or after December 1st 2025.
