IHRB Tipperary (F) Point to Point Meeting Saturday 2nd November 2024
The Acting Stewards received a report from Ms Nicola O'Connor, IHRB Veterinary Officer, that she could not positively identify Bar Nonie, a declared runner in the 4yo Mares Maiden, as the microchip number in the horse presented to run did not correspond with the microchip number in the horse's passport.
Ms O'Connor added that the microchip scanned in the horse presented to run appeared to be that of Whatsupnellie.
Evidence was also heard from Eric Larkin, Handler of Bar Nonie, who accepted that the wrong horse had been produced to run at the meeting, he added that he had previously trained Whatsupnellie and both horses were owned and bred by the same owners.
Having considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Bar Nonie and referred the matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation.
Limerick (F) Point to Point Meeting Sunday 3rd November 2024
The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr P.A. King, rider of The Last Minute, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 6yo & Upwards Geldings Maiden.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had used his whip with excessive frequency but stated that he had used his whip down the shoulder for correctional purposes.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were satisfied that Mr King had used his whip down the shoulder for correctional purposes and as his remaining use of the whip was not in breach of Regulation 58.3 (g), took no further action.
