Fairyhouse races feature in 2021 Hunter Chase programme
Horse Racing Ireland have published the National Hunt provisional summary for the remainder of 2021 which includes details of the scheduled Hunter Chases and Point-to-Point Bumpers.
The traditional Hunter Chases at Down Royal and Limerick are once again a part of the Festive racing programme, and the pre-Christmas calendar is bolstered by an early November Fairyhouse fixture.
Last year, HRI programmed an all Hunter Chase and Point-to-Point Bumper card at the home of the Irish Grand National to compensate connections for the loss of such a large part of the Spring 2020 programme due to the restrictions brought in in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Three of the races which featured on that card have remained in the programme, with a Hunter Chase for horses that have not won under rules since March 21st taking place over a trip just shy of three miles.
It will be followed by a pair of point-to-point bumpers – one for mares and a second for colts and geldings – and they will be open to horses which have finished placed between the flags since October 5th, 2019.
The Fairyhouse fixture takes place on the inner course on November 9th, and will feature a number of races for Qualified Riders, including a round of the John Thomas McNamara Series, as well as an Ireland Versus Britain QR Challenge.
