Entries are now being accepted for Goffs Punchestown Sale, Ireland’s only boutique Point-to-Point sale, which returns on Thursday 29 April, the third day of the Punchestown Festival.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions the sale will take place at Goffs, just 15 minutes from the racecourse. The exact format of the sale will be finalised in the coming days but is expected to comprise of a physical sale with horses vetted and available for inspection at Goffs, combined with an online element to facilitate any buyers unable to travel.
A proven platform for selling elite point to pointers and horses with form, the most recent Punchestown Sale in 2019 recorded prices of up to €360,000 with an average of just under €150,000.
Honeysuckle headlines the Goffs Punchestown Sale Roll of Honour with her recent Champion Hurdle victory at the Cheltenham Festival the pinnacle so far of a remarkable career since she was purchased by Peter Molony for Kenneth Alexander at the Punchestown Sale in 2018. A broad range of leading trainers have also enjoyed recent black type success from the Punchestown Sale including Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott, Henry de Bromhead, Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls, Dan Skelton, Colin Tizzard, Kim Bailey and Anthony Honeyball.
Commenting ahead of this year’s Punchestown Sale, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:
“It has been a very challenging start to the year for Point-to-Point handlers. The phased reintroduction of Point-to-Pointing from April 10 is a welcome boost for the sector, alongside the Point-to-Point bumpers, and following the record-breaking results of Irish Point to Point graduates at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival, we anticipate strong demand at the Punchestown Sale.
This is the only sale of its kind in Ireland, and it is also worth noting that the top buyers at most recent Point-to-Point Sales have been Irish. Goffs Punchestown Sale is a proven outlet for vendors that consistently achieves the best prices when selling to a wide range of owners, trainers and agents from both sides of the Irish Sea, and with crowds unable to attend this year’s Festival, Goffs will utilise all our resources, both in person and online, to ensure the broadest participation once again this year”.
