WATCH: ITM Stallion Showcase - Boardsmill Stud

Boardsmill Stud which is located in Trim, Co. Meath is run by father and son team of William and John Flood. They featured in this year’s Irish Thoroughbred Marketing ‘Irish Stallion Showcase 2021’.

Some of stallions showcased on the day included National Hunt Stallions, Califet, Court Cave and Kalanisi.

Court Cave who is now rising 20, is the third leading living sire at stud at the moment, which is a great achievement.

He has had two five-year-old gelding winners this season already which includes; Pay The Piper who won his maiden by an impressive 15 lengths at Tinahely for handler Colin Bowe.

Tea For Free impressed on his debut when winning at Mainstown for handler Ian McCarthy.

He also sired four-year-old maiden winner French Bumper who won at Rathcannon earlier this season for handler Denis Hogan.

Kalanisi sire of Champion Hurdle winner Katchit and Champion Bumper winner Fayonagh is also on the roster at Boardsmill Stud.

He is also the sire of exciting prospect Malone Road, the Cheveley Park Stud owned gelding started his career between the flags with Stuart Crawford, he was an impressive winner of his maiden at Loughanmore and was subsequently sold for £325,000.

He unfortunately had a long lay-off due to injury but impressed on his return when winning his maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan.  He then appeared at the Listowel racing festival and was only just beaten by the Willie Mullins trained N’golo.

Califet’s first crop of Irish Bred five-year-old appeared in 2020, some of these included Will Carver who ran out an easy winner of his maiden at Kirkistown last season for Warren Ewing.

Erne River he won his maiden at Dungarvan for handler Colin Bowe and recent winner Passion View who ran a two length winner of her maiden at Tattersalls in the hands of Jamie Codd.
