Weekend Preview: Loughrea 11th October

Enda Bolger sent out Edwulf to win at Loughrea last year and looks to have another strong hand with the 2018 Paddy Power Chase winner Auvergnat who lets to make his pointing debut.

R1 – Tattersalls Ireland 4YO Maiden

GROZNI only just failed to make a winning debut at Ballingarry on the opening day of the season when narrowly denied by Sublime Heights and that would look to be the strongest piece of form of those with previous experience. Garde Des Champs also finished second on that weekend, when he made his debut at Oldcastle, whilst the luckless Bold Leader is another that has shown promise.

R2 – Pier Head Bar & Restaurant 5YO Geldings Maiden

LOST CITY OF GOLD cost plenty as a three-year-old and he delivered on that price tag with a very encouraging debut at Lingstown in the Spring, finishing a close second to the more experienced Sunset West having been the subject of market support. He would look the one to beat on his return to action. Tommys Oscar has finished placed on his last four consecutive outings including one of his best to date when third at Ballingarry, whilst Take Me West came down at the last at Necarne on his return and he cannot be discounted.

R3 – Ocean Hygiene & Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd Homevalue

LATINO FLING went close to making the perfect start to his career when finishing a close second at Carrigarostig in January and she would certainly look the one to beat on her return. The more experienced Rachels Surprise would certainly rate as a danger if putting her best foot forward, whilst Pay The Woman and Call Me Merry are others that are not without chances.

R4 – Galway Races Committee Open

Enda Bolger sent out Edwulf (pictured above) to win this race 12 months ago and he looks to have another strong hand in this race with another three horses in the JP McManus colours including the 2018 Paddy Power Chase victor AUVERGNAT who could have his pointing debut here. His stable companion Stand Up And Fight excelled over the banks at Lingstown in March, but failed to get involved at Killarney during the Summer. Of the dangers, Rewritetherules has the benefit of recent race fitness having chased home Marinero at Ballingarry last month.

R5 – INHS Committee 6YO Geldings Maiden (Novice Riders)

With a handicap mark of 112 to his name over hurdles following a number of placed efforts when under the care Philip Hobbs, that could leave him with something in hand over his rivals here for his stable debut in what would look a very winnable opportunity.

R6 – The V.P. Shields Memorial Winners of One

NAVY GIRL is one of just two last time out winners entered in this  having won her maiden at Ballingarry by eight lengths. With the 5lb mares allowance in her favour here, she would look the one to beat. Er Dancer is the other winner from this season in the line-up after he got his head in front at Necarne, whilst Call It Time is a very consistent sort at this level having finished second on his last three outings including behind the Downpatrick Hunter Chase winner On The Sod at Armagh in February.
