Weekend Preview: Moira 10th October

The Colin Bowe trained Navy Girl is hoping to follow up on her recent victory at Ballingarry on the opening weekend.  She is one of three last time out winners entered in the mares winners of two contest.

R1 – Dennison Commercials 4YO Maiden

The final fence has proven to be a something of a bogie obstacle for BOLD GETAWAY in each of his two outings to date when looking to be destined for a placed finish. A clear round of jumping should see him go close for a yard that have already enjoyed success in this age division in recent weeks. Garde Des Champs has the advantage of a run this season having finished second at Oldcastle on the opening weekend of the new campaign, while Colin Bowe had four winners last weekend and Bolamore Bridge has the strongest form of those that he has entered in this opener.

R2 – Tattersalls Ireland 5&6YO Mares Maiden

Second at Necarne on her debut a fortnight ago, LECALE LASS can step up from that promising introduction as this has a wide-open look to it. Call Me Merry is another with a recent outing to her name, having been beaten 12 lengths at Oldcastle, whilst of the others, Jackie Daniels offered some hope that she was coming back to the form which had seen her narrowly denied on her debut at Linstown when she returned at Monksgrange a fortnight ago.

R3 – Albert Bartlett 5YO Geldings Maiden

LOST CITY OF GOLD cost plenty as a three-year-old and he delivered on that price tag with a very encouraging debut at Lingstown in the Spring, finishing a close second to the more experienced Sunset West having been the subject of market support. He would look the one to beat on his return to action. Take Me West was no match for the comprehensive winner High Stakes at Necarne before coming down at the last, whilst Post No Bills was only beaten by six lengths at the same venue.

R4 – Northern Excavators Ltd Open

MARINERO already has an Open win to his name this season from the opening day of the season at Ballingarry and if conditions remain in his favour that form would look particularly strong. His stable companion, the reigning champion pointer Eddies Miracle, failed to land a blow in testing conditions in Castletown-Geoghegan last week but is sure to come on for the run, whilst Coastal Tiep, Minella On Line, Ned Stark and Templebredin are among the other potential dangers.

R5 – Alexander Mills 6YO Maiden (Novice Riders)

PRECIOUS BOUNTY has gone very close over hurdles for Philip Hobbs with a handicap mark of 112 and that would certainly leave him as the one to beat on his first start for the Sam Curling yard. Houston Texas made the frame on his debut at Necarne and can step forward from it, with Quill Road a horse that has been knocking on the door for some time.

R6 – Gortnamoney Farm Mares Winners of Two

NAVY GIRL is one of three last time out winners entered in this and having won her maiden at Ballingarry by eight lengths, she would look the most likely to quickly double up. Lawlors Choice climbed the hill particularly well at Tinahely when winning in February and is the main danger, whilst Sketrik could be set for a quick reappearance as she defied a significant absence to get her head in front at Toomebridge just last Saturday.
