Video Archives | Maralin 2002

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2002 season.

The Iveagh Hunt held the opening fixture of the of the 2002-03 point-to-point season at Maralin.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

It was a good day for Youghal rider Davy Russell who completed a four-timer on the opening day of the Autumn season at Maralin.

Ease The Pressure supplied Russell with first winner on the day when winning the opening four and five-year-old maiden in good style.

Uncle Hugh made easy work of the it claim the five and six-year-old geldings maiden in good style under Jimmy Henry.

Paddies Boy supplied Russell with his second winner of the afternoon when running out a two length victory of the open lightweight. Davy Russell was seen to good effect here when coming from last to deliver his mount to lead on the line.

Paul McAleese made a trip to the winners enclosure when coming home in front of the four-year-old and upwards mares maiden aboard Greenmount Lass.

The eight-year-old and upwards maiden saw Russell ride this third winner of the afternoon when coming in front by six lengths aboard Toscanni.

Russell completed his four-timer when taking the concluding winners of three contest aboard Copper Star.

It was an exciting start to the season with John Thomas McNamara completing a four-timer the following day at Ballingarry. The pair would go on to share the spoils that year registering 56 winners a piece.
