Video Archive | Wexford February 2000

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  We are starting with the 2000 videos.

The second meeting in our video archives is Wexford point-to-point which was held in February 2000 at Wexford Racecourse.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

The Wexford Foxhounds held their annual point-to-point fixture at Wexford Racecourse in February 2000.  There were eight races.

The opening contest, the five-year-old geldings maiden was won by Lincoln Place in the hands of Jeremy Cash.

The six-year-old geldings maiden saw Willie Codd and Gordon Elliott battle it out all the way to the line with the latter just holding on aboard Fatalistic.

Derryvella Lad ran out an easy winner of the winner of two contest in the hands of PJ Colville.

Liz Doyle won the ladies open aboard Indian Wings when defeating Dunaree and Aileen Sloane Lee by six lengths.

Moral Justice looked set for victory in the seven-year-old geldings maiden but he unseated John Berry at last after making a bad mistake and left the way clear for Castlehale and John Cullen to come through and win.

It was a successful afternoon for the local jockey John Cullen who then went on to register a treble when winning the next two races on the days card.

Kyle Lad supplied Cullen with his second winner of the afternoon when coming out the best after a battle with Taurean Son.

Cullen completed his treble when winning the five and six-year-old confined mares maiden aboard Lischelle Star.

The concluding race on the day, division two of the five & six-year-old confined mares maiden was won by Orient Star and Christopher Cosgrave.
