Weekend Preview | Knockmullen House 02nd February

Race 1 - Tattersalls Ireland 4yo Maiden

Colin Bowe has won the last two renewals of this race when the fixture was staged at Ballinaboola, including with his star graduates Envoi Allen, ensuring he could be the man to follow in this.

Pat Doyle has also won this in the past, and so his two entries, Just No Risk and Petibonome will also be of interest. As always in races of this nature, the market will give a good guide as to what is expected of the newcomers.

Race 2 - Arctic Tack Stud 5yo Geldings Maiden

Sunset West was unable to back up his Boulta debut when giving way late at Carrigarostig, and he has form to overturn with MISTER SWEETS following that run. He is a horse that hit the crossbar at both Turtulla and Carrigarostig, and will likely be strongly fancied to go close once again.

Walking The Walk tried to make all at Ballycrystal a fortnight ago in what was a big step forward from his Turtulla debut last year, and he is clearly going the right way, whilst Cardboard Gangster is another to have offered promise recently.

Race 3 - Nitrofert 5&6yo Mares Maiden

MRS POPS ran a big race on her debut in this sphere at Tattersalls Farm before Christmas, when chasing home the race-fit Jerminnie Green, in a race which produced last weekends wide-margin Dungarvan victor Drumderry Ask.

The returning Honest Opinion has eye-catching form against Ard Abhainn from Lingstown last year, ensuring that she has to be respected, whilst Megans Marvel could not follow up her Ballycahane debut when a beaten short-priced favourite at Moira subsequently. She could get involved if recapturing the promise of that opening placed effort, whilst

Race 4 - Cooney Furlong 6yo Geldings Maiden

GLENDRUID was sent off as the favourite for his pointing debut at Ballycrystal a fortnight ago, where he tried to make all the running. In the end he bumped into a smart winner for the age grade, with the victor subsequently selling for 50,000 pounds last week. There may not be anything of that calibre here, which could see him go close.

Icy Inferno is the undoubted danger, particularly if bouncing back from a non-finish at Dromahane over Christmas, as prior to that he had offered real promise at Lingstown and Tattersalls Farm. Of the others, Choctaw Brave is rarely out of the frame, whilst The New Kid has also long been knocking on the door, with two respectable efforts at Ballindenisk most recently.

Race 5 - Ballywalter Farms Winner Of Three

ALONEAMONGMILLIONS has taken all before him to date, producing one impressive performance after the other, leaving him as what would look to be a tough nut to crack.

Like A Demon did not seem to have too hard of a race when jumping his rivals into the ground at Tyrella last Saturday, leaving him as a threat, alongside recent Ballycrystal winner Beatthebullet, both of whom will likely be hoping that the ground comes up on the quicker side, with Mr Mantilla another with an unbeaten record to uphold.

Race 6 - Horse & Hound Hotel 7yo Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

ONE FOR THE YARD was only reeled in late in testing conditions at Aghabullogue last month, in what was a fine performance from the front. It likely leaves him as the one to beat in this.

The mare Awesome Lady may now be an 11-year-old, but she has steadily been coming back to form this season, culminating in her second at Tinahely last time, whilst Mr Cosmos and Diegos Way are other solid types that can feature.
