POINTERS ON TRACK

25 Entered in the first Hunter Chase of 2020 at Clonmel

The Clonmel Rathronan Maiden Hunters Chase which takes place on Thursday 9th January has received an entry of 25 and looks set to be a competitive contest.

Complete Sizing, who has only once tasted defeat could well make his seasonal reappearance here. A four times points winner he was fourth of five at Down Royal in May on his Hunter Chase debut  behind Rewritetherules and could return to action here for the Dreaper team.

Holycross Lito who is leading the charge to become Champion Mare this season could be making her hunter chase debut if lining up, The ten-year-old got her season off to a perfect start when beating reigning Champion Mare Longhouse Music by six lengths at Loughanmore in October. This was the only start of the season for the daughter of Beneficial and could well see her post a high mark in her bid to become Champion mare.

Rosfoyle has won on three occasions between the flags for handler Aidan Fitzgerald, most recently when coming home a neck in front of Chenery at Knockinroe in October. The daughter of Milan could provide Fitzgerald with his first ever runner on the track as he recently received a Hunter Chase licence from the IHRB.

Some Man has been enjoying a lucrative season in points since returning from a spell under rules with Paul Nicholls. The seven-year-old, who is now handled by David Christie won his seasonal debut at Toomebridge when beating Limerick Hunter Chase victor Samurai Cracker by two and a half lengths.  A close relation of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Denman, the Beat Hollow gelding could make this three in a row if lining up for this contest.

Steelers Appeal is an interesting entrant having finished third in a top class Boulta winners contest on latest outing. Aloneamongmillions and Crossing Lines filled the first two placings on that occassion but this Lisronagh maiden winner was only beaten fourteen lengths on his first start out of maiden company and could be open to improvement.
