Three ex-Irish pointers score on American Callaway card

Irish Point-to-Point graduates dominated action at the American Callaway meet last Saturday by securing success in the first three races of the card.

Cork native Brian Linehan, who is a former Irish point-to-point rider and is now a well-established name in American Steeplechasing, guided Goodoldtimes to victory in a $20,000 3m1f novice timber race which was the opening race of the day.
The son of Gold well, who was having his second start for trainer Leslie Young won his five-year-old maiden in Rathcannon last April by seven lengths for Wexford handler Denis-Murphy and subsequently went on to be sold for £65,000 at the Cheltenham April sale.

The $20,000 maiden claiming hurdle over 2m2f saw Court Ruler complete the Leslie Young/Brian Linehan double when making his debut performance in America a winning one.
A €34,000 store purchase, the five-year-old son of Court Cave began his racing career at Quakerstown last April where he pulled up, when handled by Ronnie O’Leary.

The Galway Kid, who is a graduate of Wexford-based handler Mick Goff, was last seen winning his four-year-old maiden at Ballingarry last June before making his debut across the water where he finished fifth in a Fair Hills hurdle three weeks ago. He didn’t have long to wait until he returned to his winning ways when landing the $30,000 2m2f maiden hurdle under Mallow native Darren Nagle, completing the trio of successes on the day.
