Following the success of Kruzhlinin at Ballingarry on Monday, the race to be champion pointer finally draws to a close following a thrilling conclusion.

With Longhouse Music having brought her tally to 13 at Kinsale on Saturday the pair are now tied on 13 wins and two seconds for the season.

Considering that the previous record for most win in a season stood at eight, these two prolific horses have certainly achieved point-to-point history after what has been a fantastic battle to secure the title.

The Sam Curling – trained Longhouse Music began her career in the point-to-point sphere, breaking her maiden at Belclare back in 2017. Remarkably she was ridden by eight different riders, although Derek O’Connor enjoyed five successes on this prolific mare.

Kruzhlinin on the other hand began his career in the UK point-to-point sphere, before being bought be Paul and Clare Rooney for whom he won eight times under rules, running to a mark of 148.

Transferred to the Gordon Elliott yard, the 12-year-old went on to run 17 times this season in the colours of Camilla Sharples. Having ran in two hunter chases, the prolific son of Sholohov also won 13 of his starts between-the-flags, filling the runner-up berth on two occasion.

Jamie Codd, Barry O’Neill and Lisa O’Neill all tasted success on the geldings, while Jordan Williams partnered the chestnut in a novice riders open at Fairyhouse.

With 26 wins between these two phenomenal point-to-pointers, they have set a record here that will take some beating in the future.
