The Goffs UK Spring HIT/P2P Sale at Doncaster got off to a tremendous start with a cast of top-end pointers and bumper horses producing eight lots selling for six-figure sums and two surpassing £300,000.
Owner Roger Brookhouse has found success at this sale in the past having purchased the Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner Summerville Boy and will be hoping his latest purchase follows in his steps as he bid a sale topping £375,000 for the debut winning pointer Lets Go Champ (Lot 479).
Offered by Donnchadh Doyle’s Monbeg Stables, who had forked out €90,000 to acquire him as a three-year-old, the son of Jeremy had been most impressive when winning at Bartlemy and attracted bids from around the ring before the hammer fell in favour of Brookhouse.
Whilst the other £300,000-plus lot on the day was for the Huntingdon bumper winner Mister Coffey, there were big prices for the many of the young horses with Irish point-to-point form.
Yesterday’s store session had seen Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls secure two of the session’s top four lots, and the pair were again active at the top of the market, going to £170,000 to purchase the Dromahane winner Skatman (Lot 472).

It was a clean sweep for Wexford handlers in supplying the six-figure lots from the Irish pointing ranks. Denis Murphy's Face The Odds, who had stepped up from his Lisronagh debut by winning at Dawstown was knocked down to Mags O'Toole and Noel Meade for £165,000, closely followed by Doyle's Fakir D'Alene who realised £160,000 when sold to Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott after winning by 20 lengths at Broughshane.
The six-figure Irish pointers were completed by Mick Goff's Bartlmey winner Mustang Alpha who was sold to Tom Malone and Jamie Snowden for £135,000 and Sean Doyle's Dancewiththewind, who was Howson and Houldsworth Bloodstock for £110,000 after winning at Taylorstown, having finished fifth to Sporting John in what has proved to be arguably the season's best maiden at Borris House.
