Dwan and Doyle combine with Myrons at Tramore

Myrons won his second race of the season when he came out on top in the BetVictor Betfinder Maiden Hunter Chase at Tramore on Tuesday evening.

Sent off as the 5/4 favourite, the six-year-old was patiently ridden as Evan Dwan bided his time throughout the early stages of the 2m 6f contest. As the keen-running pace-setter Doyen Bay began to get reeled in prior to his third-last fence departure, it was Shark Hanlon’s Borris House winner Says The Boy that took up the advantage.

However Dwan delivered Pat Doyle’s charge prior to the second-last fence, and from that point he found plenty for pressure to repel the challenge of his main market rival, Eugene O’Sullivan’s Super Citizen, who was re-appearing eight days after he had won an adjacent maiden at Dawstown over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The two-and-a-quarter length success for Myrnos denied the connections of the runner-up a Hunter Chase double within the space of 24 hours, as they had saddled It Came To Pass to win in Killarney a day earlier.

The second success of the season, following on from his maiden victory at Turtulla in the autumn, continues the transformation that son of Stowaway has enjoyed since joining Pat Doyle’s Suirview Stables last summer, as he has also managed to get within five lengths of what is likely to be this season’s Champion Hunter Chaser Ucello Conti, when he finished third at Thurles in January.

The six-year-old could well be offered at next week’s Goffs UK Spring Sale in Doncaster, with the winning trainer putting him forward as an ‘ideal horse for England on nice ground’.
