Downpatrick Hunters Chase entries online

13 horse have been entered the Boardsmill Sires Maiden Hunters Chase at Downpatrick on Sunday which is run over 2m7f. The €10,000 contest is the sixth race on the card with a start time of 5:00pm.

There are a number of recent point-to-point winners amongst the field including Tareeshar who got the better of two promising sorts when taking an Oltown five-year-old geldings’ maiden back in February, now in the care of Brian Hamilton he could well be interesting here.

The James Barcoe-trained All Ears is a consistent sort between-the-flags and recently provided her novice rider with his first success when taking an adjacent maiden at Borris, but this looks a big step up in grade.

Loggan Lady won around Tinahely in February for the Walsh’s, although the seven-year-old pulled up in the Tetratema on her last start she has plenty of experience to her name.

Indeed a couple of the previously placed horses also bring some decent form to the field, with the Jim Dreaper-trained Slemish having ran a few cracking races in defeat to date.

A dual point-to-point winner back in 2016, the nine-year-old was second to Hi Murphy on his seasonal reappearance at Farmaclaffley, so should certainly have no problem handling the track here.

The Nigel Slevin-trained Like A Demon ran a big race in defeat in the Hunters Chase at Down Royal recently when finishing a close third. This certainly looks a drop down in grade for the Corbeagh House maiden winner, who could go close here.

Another dropping down in grade is Billaway, who finished third in the Tetratema behind Fenno’s Storm earlier in the month. The seven-year-old is trained by Willie Mullins and should give a good account of himself once again.

Decor Irlandais got his jumping together when taking a winners’ race at Kirkistown recently, on the same card in which maiden Cosmic Flight has filled the runner up spot for the third consecutive time. The previously placed Light Bulb and Jimmil are also worth a mention, while consistant sorts Donjon, Our Bonus and Puff My Pistons complete the line-up.
