Potters Corner lands the Midlands National at Uttoxeter

The former pointer, Potters Corner, showcased an impressive staying performance to record success in the Midlands National for Christian Williams.

The nine-year-old winner challenged three from home and stayed on gamely when driven out by James Bowen in testing conditions to deny the Anthony Honeyball-trained Ms Parfois by three lengths.

Both Potters Corner and Ms Parfois began their respective careers in Irish points.

The former finished second on his debut at Bartlemy under Gerry Mangan (pictured) back in May 2014 when under the care of Thomas Cooper and was subsequently sold for £30,000 at Brightwells.

While Ms Parfois won her four-year-old debut at Boulta for John Barry and Martin Hassett.
Paul Morgan initially trained Potters Corner from September 2014 until January 2017 before Williams began training the horse in 2018.

The son of Indian Danehill had run for Williams five times before the Midlands National. The gelding recorded a win in the Lord Stalbridge Memorial Cup at Wincanton in December his third outing for Williams.

Potters Corner also holds an entry in the Aintree Grand National which will take place in just over two week’s time on the 6th of April.
