Foxhunters hopeful Ucello Conti claims Navan Hunter Chase

Ucello Conti followed up on his recent Thurles win with a fine victory in the Boardsmill Stud Hunters Chase at Navan in the hands of Barry O’Neill.

The son of Martaline has now made three from three this season for the Gordon Elliott team.

He won an open at Aghabullogue on his initial start between the flags and was last seen when winning the Arctic Tack Hunters Chase at Thurles.

Reigning champion point-to-point rider raced his mount in behind the leaders and took up the running after the third last.

The nine-year-old kept on well from the last to score by three and half lengths.

The Simon Munir-owned gelding has now qualified for the Foxhunters Chase at Cheltenham and will head straight there now.
