Promising point-to-point winner headlines August Sale catalogue

John “Shark” Hanlon’s exciting four-year-old Sharing Is Caring (Lot 20) is one of many promising types going under ThoroughBid’s online hammer in the August Sale.

Hanlon’s four-year-old son of Free Eagle debuted in a Ffynnon Druidion point-to-point in May with a hard-fought victory, before a fourth and second have followed Under Rules at Stratford and Ballinrobe respectively, and he looks set for an exciting future for new connections.

Speaking to ThoroughBid, Hanlon said: “He’s a lovely horse. I think he’ll go and win straight away. I had his brother, Hallowed Star, who won at Galway during the Festival meeting on a few occasions.

“Sharing Is Caring is a very straightforward type. Sean Flanagan rode him last time, and if anyone wants to ring Sean, they can. He told me the horse will win wherever he goes next. He’s a horse who was second in a maiden hurdle last time out, and the horse that beat him already had good Cheltenham form, including a run there in the Champion Bumper in March.

“His run in his point-to-point was very good. Sometimes it’s hard to know just how good they are from that, but his run in the maiden hurdle was very, very good.

“I’ve used ThoroughBid before because it’s so straightforward. If they don’t get sold, they don’t get sold, but I very much doubt that will be the case with this horse. I can sell him from his stable door, and if he doesn’t sell, then he can run the week after.”

Leading Jumps trainers Henry de Bromhead and Gordon Elliott are regular sellers with ThoroughBid, and that continues in the August Sale. De Bromhead is responsible for winning hurdler and multiple times placed chaser Itwasfate (Lot 10) and seven-year-old winning chaser Garde La Peche (Lot 13), with Elliott selling winning hurdler Cher Tara (Lot 16) and Ovidstown Hill (Lot 9).

Cox and Candlish consign unexposed Flat prospects

Flat fans will be excited to see some attractive propositions on the level up for sale this month too, particularly after ThoroughBid graduate Spring Is Sprung landing a four-timer this summer. Clive Cox’s unexposed Blue Point two-year-old colt This Guy (Lot 14) has a nice future ahead of him, as does Jennie Candlish’s three-year-old son of Invincible Army, It’s Only Fun (Lot 17), already a winner and with plenty of upside.

There are a total of 29 lots for sale on Friday 29th August Sale, also featuring some nicely bred youngstock, meaning there’s really something for everyone in the catalogue.

Looking ahead to the sale, CEO of ThoroughBid, James Richardson, said: “We’re delighted to offer a diverse catalogue for the August Sale. It’s fantastic to have Shark Hanlon selling Sharing Is Caring, who’s a nice point-to-point winner with a bright future. We’re also pleased to have the likes of Henry de Bromhead and Gordon Elliott selling with us again this month, and we expect their offerings to catch the eye of plenty of purchasers.

“It’s also great to see some interesting Flat horses in training on offer, particularly This Guy and It’s Only Fun, who have some very useful form in the book and still plenty of upside. With such a wide variety of lots in the catalogue, we’re excited for bidding to begin on Friday 29th August.”

ThoroughBid’s August Sale catalogue can be viewed online, and bidding will start at 9am on Friday 29th August: https://thoroughbid.co.uk/collection/63
