Career Milestone for Hendrick

It was a day to remember for Wexford native Jack Hendrick who recorded his 100th winner between the flags aboard the Thomas Byrne trained Nevershedatear at Borris House on Sunday.

The daughter of Getaway put in a fine performance when making all in division two of the four-year-old mares maiden.  She kept on gamely from before the last to see off her only other rival Might Be The One by two lengths.

Hendrick capped off a good day, when registering a double on the day when winning the five-year-old geldings aboard the Matty Flynn O’Connor trained Port Authority.

The Wexford native who is a second cousin to former champion rider Jamie Codd, registered his first point-to-point winner in 2018 aboard the Cormac Doyle trained Would You ByPass at Tinahely.

It is Doyle who has really propelled his career with the pair combining to have 34 between the flags.

In recent times he has also struck up a successful relationship with Denis Murphy who has given the 25-year-old 23 winners to date .

Last season was his most successful season notching up 27 winners and finished third in the overall riders table behind Rob James, Barry O’Neill (joint winners) and Derek O’Connor (second).

Hendrick also picked up his first region award last season when sharing the Eastern Title with Rob James, with the pair finishing up on 22  winners a piece.
