Willitgoahead impresses in Thurles Hunters Chase

Willitgoahead made an amends for his second placed effort at Limerick over Christmas with an impressive performance in the Racing Again February 6th Hunters Chase at Thurles for trainer Sean Doyle.

The son of Getaway justified favouritism with an easy victory over his rivals, the son Getaway took up the running three fences from home and in a matter strides had put the race to bed under the guidance of his regular rider Jamie Scallan.

This was the seven-year-olds fourth victory of the season having won at Castletown-Geoghegan, Tinahely and Tattersalls earlier this season.

Of the nine declared only six went to post, with the late withdrawl of Boss Robin, Jimmybrien and Rocky's Howya owing to the quick ground conditions which were described as good.

Doyle told IrishRacing.Com; ‘We are dreaming about this lad for a while and hopefully he will now go to Cheltenham. We have plenty of options and we could wait for Aintree.’

‘I think this might be the year for him as I can’t see a top-class open horse coming back, the best one I’ve seen is Big Interest, who won a point-to-point for me but he needs soft ground.  If the ground came up good, we would be fancying our chances.’
