Search For Glory remains unbeaten in point-to-point bumper

Search For Glory completed a hat-trick for Gordon Elliott at Fairyhouse on Tuesday when winning the point-to-point bumper on his stable debut.

A five-length winner of his five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Quakerstown on debut when with John Costello, the Fame And Glory gelding was subsequently sold to the Elliott stable for £200,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham April sale.

Re-appearing in Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown House Stud colours, Harry Swan did have to get after him entering into the home straight in what developed into quite a sprint finish following a steady early gallop.

Derek O’Connor produced Ellmarie Holden’s Zaidi to take a share of the lead with a furlong-and-a-half to race, and as Drumlee Lake gave way, it was left to Zaidi and Search For Glory to battle out the finish.

It was the latter who began to get on top and assert inside the final 150 yards as he went on to remain unbeaten with a four-and-three-quarter length victory over Zaidi, with From The Clouds a further four-and-a-quarter lengths adrift in third.

Elliott had earlier sent out the ex-pointer Gerri Colombe to remain unbeaten on his chasing debut.
