It's On The Line gets up on the line to deny Earl Of Desmond

It’s On The line got up on the line to grasp victory from the short-priced favourite Earl Of Desmond in the John Thomas McNamara Series Maiden Hunters' Chase.

The five-year-old son of Presenting, a relatively young age for a hunter chaser raced towards the rear for the most part of the race, before making promising headway after a final fence scare to pick up the running inside the final 100 yards.

Earl Of Desmond, the 7/4 favourite was perfectly positioned behind the leaders for the most part of the journey.

The seven-year-old son of Presenting picked up the running two out and looked as though he had the race at his mercy.

However, it wasn’t to be, as the in-form Emmet Mullins trained, It’s On The Line was given a patient ride by Charlie Mullins, cousin of Emmet Mullins and came with a late run to take advantage of a crashing mistake by Clonmeen at the second last fence.

There wasn’t much between the four at the final fence, but It’s On The Line survived a peck on landing to get up by half a length to the battling back Earl Of Desmond in second and Plain Or Battered was 2 ¼ lengths in third.
