Dorking Cock takes Down Royal Hunters Chase

The Metcollect Cable Recycling Hunters Chase at Down Royal was claimed by the Stuart Crawford trained Dorking Cock in the hands of Stephen Connor.

The pair had settled in behind the leaders for most and made their challenge when taking up the lead three fences from home.

The son of Winged Leader stayed on well from the last to see off the Sean Doyle trained Er Dancer by two and three parts of a length.

The seven-year-old gelding only made his debut in point-to-points this season when finishing fourth behind Mighty Stowaway at Loughbrickland last month.  He only joined the Crawfords team this year having had a successful career under rules for Tom Lacey.

The favourite Vaucelet who finished third was pushed along by his rider Barry O’Neill from three out and kept on same pace from before the last.
