Ben Crawford reaches winner 100 at Loughbrickland

Ben Crawford made it a day to remember at Loughbrickland when the popular Antrim rider registered his 100th winner between the flags aboard Burnt Ash for his brother Stuart.

Ben has been one of the leading riders on the northern circuit for a number of seasons, hailing from a successful racing family with brothers Stuart, Ross and Steven all well known for their abilities as trainers and as an amateur jockey respectively.

Crawford registered his first winner between the flags in 2009 when guiding Segnor Du Charmil to victory in the six-year-old geldings; maiden at Durrow for brother Stuart before quickly coming to the fore in the northern region in particular.

During the 2011/12 season Crawford shared the Northern Title with the sport’s must successful rider of all time Derek O’Connor, before he enjoyed his own personal best season to date the following year during the 2012-13 campaign when partnering 17 winners and finishing ninth overall in the leading riders table.

The Larne native has partnered many good horses over the years, the majority of which have been for his brother, including Malone Road and The Very Man two of their notable four-year-old winners, with his elder brother Stuart unsurprisingly have been his biggest supporter to date, supplying him with over 80 of his successes with Warren Ewing and Neil McKnight some of his other supporters through the years.
