Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file. The next year we are adding videos from is the 2002 season.
The second meeting to be added from 2002 is the North Down Foxhounds point-to-point at Comber.
Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.
The opening winners of one contest was won by Nothingotellme and William Rankin, the pair kept on gamely from the last to deny River Bug who made a bad mistake at the last.
Leo Gracey and Lady Bellaney took the open lightweight in good fashion when running out a 10 length victory.
Jim Keeling was seen at his best when delivering Geraldo to lead close home to claim the five-year-old maiden.
Oneofthemongoes ran out an impressive winner of the six-year-old and geldings maiden in the hands of Tom Cullen.
William Rankin was in the winner’s enclosure for a second time when winning the six-year-old and upwards mares maiden aboard Pointless Expense.
The six-year-old and upwards mares maiden was won by World Rock in the hands of James McGurgan.
Davy Russell was seen at his best winning the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden aboard Lucky People. Russell’s mount responded well to pressure in the straight to get up and lead close home.
The concluding division of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden was won in good style by Mr Maguire in the hands of Cormac Rafferty. Cormac Rafferty is now a successful show jumper who produces top class horses and ponies.
