Weekend Preview | Aghabullogue 12th January

Race 1 - Dave Dennehy & Family 5&6yo Mares Maiden

ROSE MILAN stayed on strongly when to finish a close third on her debut at Dromahane over the Christmas period. Having come up against more experienced types on that occasion, it was certainly an eye-catching performance.

No Fame No Game could be a danger if bouncing back to her Boulta effort from last month, whilst Fashion Nova offered some promise on her Borris House debut and can step up from it.

Race 2 - Goffs UK January P2P Sale 5yo Geldings Maiden

NOTHIN TO ASK got tired in the closing stages in testing conditions at Kirkistown in November, but he had been running a big race before then and was still far from disgraced with his fourth placed finishing position, to ensure that he should be a leading contender in this.

There would not seem to be a lot separating Dunboyne and Bourbon Street, and they could also feature in this.

Race 3 – Brookfield Leisure Centre Open

MACS LEGEND has been in top form of late, and he would prove to be a popular local winner if following up his Dromahane success to bring up a hat-trick for the season.

My Story holds an alternative engagement in a strong looking Tinahely race, so could be expected to feature here and would be a definite danger having already won three times himself this season, with Oscar Contender and Call It Magic others for the shortlist.

Race 4 - W & M Kiely Ltd 6yo+ Mares Maiden

There was little between Blue Milan and Rose Milan when they met at Dromahane and they are among a number of horses who come into this with placed form to their name, but preference is for SOVEREIGN GOLD who finished a fine second at Boulta on her debut before Christmas.

Of the others, Rosy Story has not finished outside of the placings in each of her last three outings, ensuring she is a very competitive individual, whilst Messenger Girl hails from an in-form yard and should not be discounted.

Race 5 - All Plast Engineering Ltd Winner Of One

TEMPLEBREDIN ran a big race for a long way in the Hunter Chase at Limerick over Christmas when finishing fourth to Samurai Cracker and the wide-margin Turtulla winner could follow up here.

Kilgorey got the better of Beatthebullet when they finished first and second at Down Hall in October and they should be big contenders alongside Elusive Star who won well at Loughrea on what was his first outings between the flags.

Race 6 - Dan Donovan & Co Ltd 6yo+ Geldings Maiden

Alphaphilippe has not been beaten that far in his two completed outings to date, with his latest effort coming when a close fourth at Dromahane last month. ENTRE DEUX got the better of him on that occasion, and he will be expected to confirm those placings here, with Cregane Ned possibly next best.
