Court Cave sires ninth point winner of the season

Court Cave stands at Boardmills Stud for a fee of €3,000.  The stallion was unraced due to an injury sustained to a hind fetlock when in training as a two-year-old.

The son of Saddler's Wells sired his ninth point-to-point winner of the season on Sunday when Court Glory ran out a two-length winner in the five-year-old and upwards mares' maiden at Stradbally. The six-year-old is handled by John Berry who purchased the mare from Tattersalls for €700 as a foal in 2013.

Court Cave has produced some noteworthy point-to-pointers over the years. Many of these horses have gone on to achieve success under rules including Hold Court and Clondaw Court.

Hold Court finished second on his four-year-old debut at Athlacca for Philip Dempsey back in May 2011. Evan Williams subsequently purchased the gelding for £26,000. The trainer enjoyed great success with the horse recording numerous wins under rules in the UK.

In the hands of Barry O'Neill Clondaw Court was a debut winner at Largy in the five-year-old geldings' maiden for Colin Bowe back in April 2012.

Harold Kirk and Williw Mullins purchased the gelding the following month for £130,000. The gelding won his first four starts on the track when under the care of Mullins.

Settledoutofcourt finished second on his only point start back in March 2011 in the hands of Colin Motherway. The big bay gelding was sold for £65,000 the following month and went on to win over four-times in the UK.
