10 Declared for the Down Royal Hunters Chase

10 horses have been declared for the Remus Uomo Hunters Chase at Down Royal on Saturday which is run over 2m4f and has a total prize fund of €10,000.

This looks a competitive renewal and David Christie bids to win the race for the third year in a row, as he is representing by Winged Leader on this occasion.  An unexposed five-year-old, he is the youngest horse in the contest, however the three-time winner could well run a big race here.

The Winged Love gelding has ran two cracking races in defeat on his last two starts in opens and Barry O’Neill is booked to take the mount.

The seven-year-old Hi Murphy has been progressing through the ranks this season, having broken his maiden back in the Autumn. Sean McParlan’s charge has since won twice in winners’ company and could certainly be a dark horse here under Noel McParlan.

Gearoid O’Loughlin saddled his first Cheltenham Festival runner when Jarob was by no means disgraced in the Cross Country race during the week and is responsible for Sidetracked here.

The well-bred six-year-old has won three of his seven starts to date and comes into the contest in cracking form. The son of Beneficial won a Clonmel Hunters Chase back in January, before taking an open at Belharbour on his last start.

Pierce Powers’ Burning Ambition was sent off favourite for the Cheltenham Foxhunter’s last season and was certainly not disgraced when finishing eighth.  The eight-year-old was beaten on his last start at Belharbour but bids to bounce back to form here with Rob James on board.

Peter Maher is set to be represented by Alpha Male and Change Your Story, while Aidan Howard saddles Broadway Star. Luke McGuiness and Nigel Slevin team up with Like A Demon and Nevada Rose completes the line-up.
