Former pointer Topofthegame takes the RSA Chase on Day two at Cheltenham

The Paul Nicholls-trained Topofthegame landed the spoils in the Grade 1 RSA Insurance Chase in the hands Harry Cobden.

Topofthegame has enjoyed plenty of previous success for Paul Nicholls before this week coming second in the Grade 1 novices' chase at Kempton in January.

The gelding also won the Grade 3 Betfred Heroes handicap hurdle at Sandown in February 2018.

The son of Flemensfirth made a huge impression when winning his four-year-old maiden at Belclare for Donnchadh Doyle and Rob James back in March 2016.

Highflyer Bloodstock subsequently purchased the chestnut gelding for £120,000 at the Goffs UK Aintree Sale. Doyle acquired the chestnut gelding at the Land RoverSsale in June 2015 for €26,000.

The Wexford-handler also holds an exciting entry with Farouk D'Alene in the Cheltenham Festival Sale which takes place after racing on Thursday.

The French-bred four-year-old was an impressive winner on his debut at Belclare last Sunday, winning by a convincing 18 lengths.

Doyle also has another four-year-old in the sale Bravemansgame who was an impressive winner at Lingstown.

Doyle enjoyed success at the sales earlier this year with Deploy The Getaway. The Getaway gelding won on his four-year-old debut at Tallow in February and went on to be sold at the Cheltenham February sales for £200,000. Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins purchased the gelding.
